Executive Director, Katie Aaberg, is a Grand Rapids native and joined the Foundation for Vision Research in August of 2022. She provides strategic, administrative, and operational guidance, and oversees the daily functions of the Foundation. Her efforts allow the research coordinators and physicians to focus on our patients and deliver the highest quality of care while advancing retinal science. In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, she schedules and organizes educational seminars for community physicians to bring innovative treatments and technology to West Michigan.
Katie graduated from Butler University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a minor in Spanish. Her coursework dealt extensively with nonprofit business management, statistics, promotional writing, and strategic communication. After graduating, she returned to Grand Rapids to dance ballet professionally and work in the marketing department of Grand Rapids Ballet.
Katie feels honored to head a mission-driven organization that focuses solely on research to maintain and restore vision. During her time at FVR, she hopes to expand the reach and impact of the organization by seeking out research and donation funding, expanding physician and patient education, and bringing more community awareness to the accomplishments of the Foundation.
