Holly has been responsible for the implementation and execution of over 20 clinical trials investigating treatments for age-related macular degeneration (both wet and dry), diabetic retinopathy, retina vein occlusion and ocular melanoma. She has 20+ years of experience working in the field of ophthalmology. For 13 years, Holly worked as an ophthalmic technician and maintains her credentials as a certified ophthalmic assistant (COA). Shortly after Dr. Aaberg founded Retina Specialists of Michigan in 2009, she jumped at the chance to help him establish a medical research department for the advancement of treatments for retinal diseases. In 2017, Holly became the lead research coordinator at the Foundation for Vision Research.
As the lead research coordinator, Holly is the heart and soul of our research department. She oversees all trials and works closely with our physicians to identify worthwhile studies and potential patients as well as trains and supervises our research coordinators to ensure the highest quality of care and standards. But what Holly loves most is working directly with our patients ~ encouraging, empowering and giving them hope for the future. She feels blessed to have the opportunity to expand her knowledge and teach others about retinal research. Her dedication, compassion, and attention to detail are routinely recognized by our patients, referring eye-care specialists, and collaborating organizations.
