Dr. MP Chelsky joined the Foundation for Vision Research team in August of 2020 as a research investigator. Dr. Chelsky is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and board certified by the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry. In addition to this, she is a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry and a member of the American Optometric Association, Michigan Optometric Association, and the West Michigan Optometric Association.
Dr. Chelsky attended Michigan State University for her undergraduate degree before obtaining her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State University, graduating as valedictorian of her class. She completed her residency at Hospital Residency Alburquerque VA Medical Center and taught eye disease and clinical optometry at the Michigan College of Optometry for five years after graudation. She joined the Verdier Eye Center soon after and worked with Dr. David Verdier in his corneal specialty practice for nearly twenty years.
Dr. Chelsky has a passion for patient care, teaching, and research; she feels thankful to have found an organization that marries all her interests. She thoroughly enjoys her interactions with the study patients and finds purpose in knowing she plays a critical role in providing them innovative care. Over the past two years, she has gotten to know the hardworking staff of the Foundation and feels privileged to be a part of this passionate team. She cherishes the opportunity to make contributions to the latest studies to further the research of various retinal conditions to improve the quality of people affected by these diseases. Apart from work, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs, cooking, and biking whenever possible.
