Educational Seminar

Unmasking the Mimics:
A Multimodal Approach to Neovascular AMD Look-Alikes

Wednesday, November 5, 2025

Option to attend in-person at Watermark Country Club

or virtually via Zoom Webinar

Description

The Foundation for Vision Research is excited to invite you to an upcoming educational seminar presented by Dr. Boss. Neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) remains a leading cause of vision loss in the elderly, yet its clinical presentation can closely resemble a range of other retinal pathologies. Misdiagnosis can lead to inappropriate management and adverse outcomes. This lecture provides an in-depth exploration of a multimodal imaging approach to accurately distinguish nAMD from its mimickers, including dry AMD, vitelliform dystrophy, central serous chorioretinopathy, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, macular telangiectasia, and other inflammatory or vascular conditions.

Who Should Attend

Optometrists, ophthalmic specialists, general ophthalmologists, fellows, and ophthalmology residents encompassing all levels of experience and knowledge.

Objectives

At the end of this presentation, attendees should:

  1. Better understanding of nAMD and macular neovascular membrane subtypes.
  2. Identify and differentiate common nAMD mimickers.
  3. Better understand treatment and urgency for differing patient presentation.
